In the Room, by Sónia Gomes
I’m Sónia Gomes. For more than twenty years I’ve worked in the rooms where products get decided: as a designer, a design leader, and now a product strategist. In the Room is where I write about what I notice there.
It’s about products, technology and the people who build them: how teams decide, work together and change their minds. Lately, a lot of it comes back to one shift. With AI, teams build first and decide after. Building got cheap. Being wrong didn’t.
Each issue starts from something real: a conversation, a decision, a moment in a project. Then I follow it to see where it goes. Less advice, more perspective.
Who it’s for: people who build products and lead the people who build them. Product managers, designers, tech leads, engineering managers.
What you get: essays by email, free. Some issues end with a short note, What I’m opening, listing anything that’s open: a Wingmaker course, a House of Sun gathering, time with Close to the Sun. Just the facts and a link.
You can reply to any issue. I read every reply.
I also write most weeks on LinkedIn. More about me at soniagomes.me.
